Counseling Process for Deemed Medical Colleges in Karnataka

Most students believe that admission to Deemed Medical Colleges in Karnataka occurs through KEA counselling, but that’s not entirely accurate.

Deemed Medical Colleges are not part of KEA; they come under MCC (Medical Counselling Committee), and all admissions are done through centralized counselling at the national level.

So, you will have to go through the MCC counselling process, not KEA.

Now, let me explain to you the counseling process.😛

The first and most important step is that you need to qualify for NEET. Without clearing NEET, you won’t be eligible to participate in any round of counselling (whether it's for deemed, government, or private colleges).

Once you have cleared NEET, the next step is to register on the official MCC website www.mcc.nic.in. During registration, you need to fill in your basic details, pay the counselling fee, and a refundable security deposit. After successful registration, you will be allowed to fill in your preferences for deemed universities.

Now comes the most confusing stage, which is choice filling and locking. This is where many students go wrong due to a lack of proper guidance. While selecting colleges, you need to consider the number of seats available, the fee structure, and most importantly, the previous year’s cut-off ranks. Take your time with this step because once you lock your choices for that round, you can’t make any changes.

You can use our tool, which comes at Rs 899. You will get last year’s cut-offs, fee details, seat matrix, and latest updates during the counselling period.

After that, MCC will allot seats. There are multiple rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round).

You will have chances to upgrade or participate in the next round if you didn’t get a seat of your choice.

If you are allotted a seat, you will have to physically report to the college within the given deadline. Don’t forget to carry all your original documents and pay the required fees. If you fail to report on time, your seat will be cancelled and passed on to the next eligible candidate. So it’s important to stay alert during this stage.

I hope this explanation clears your doubts about the counselling process for deemed medical colleges.

Tips to Choose a Deemed Medical College

Answering your question, “Which deemed colleges are good in Karnataka?”

When you are selecting a college, don’t just focus on the name; focus on the overall experience you will get there, as you will be there for five and a half years.

These are a few tips I feel you should know to decide which is a good college.

    Patient Flow

First, check if the college has a properly running hospital with a good number of patients visiting every day. There are many colleges where the hospital is just for show.

      Patient Exposure

But just having patients isn't enough. You should also ask, do students get to work with them? Some colleges may restrict exposure.

        Technologies & Equipment's

Also, see what kind of labs and equipment the college has. A good medical college will have modern labs, CT/MRI machines, and simulation centres that help you practice skills before handling real cases.

          Faculties

Next, take a look at the faculty. Are they full-time and experienced?

            Recognition & Accreditation

Don't forget to check if the college is recognized by the NMC and whether it has NAAC accreditation, because it ensures the college meets national standards.

              Fee Structure

Lastly, know the fee structure. For deemed medical colleges, the tuition fee is around Rs 20 to 25 lakhs per year, excluding hostel and mess.

There are miscellaneous fees as well, so make sure to check the total package before applying.

Documents Required for Admission to Deemed Medical Colleges in Karnataka

You will need to submit these documents:

              • NEET Scorecard.

              • NEET Admit Card.

              • Class 12 Marksheet and Passing Certificate.

              • Class 10 Marksheet and Passing Certificate.

              • Migration Certificate.

              • Transfer Certificate.

              • A valid ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.)

              • 6 to 8 recent passport-size photographs.

              • MCC Allotment Letter.

              • Caste Certificate (if applicable).

Tip: Always carry a set of photocopies of every document.
